Wholesale Sales Up 1.3% In May

Motor vehicle sales were down 5.3%

Wholesale sales were $357.2 billion in May the U.S. Census Bureau announced on July 10. This was in 1.3% increase from April and an 8.7% increase from May 2006.

Compared to last month, sales of motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts and supplies were down 5.3%.

May sales of nondurable goods were up 2.9% from last month and were up 13.1% from last year.

Inventories were at $396.7 billion at the end of May, up 0.5% from last month and were up 6.7% from a year ago.

Inventories of metals and minerals, except petroleum, increased 2.5% from last month and inventories of electrical and electronic goods increased 1.9%.
