Automaker cites engine-shutoff hazard in crossover wagon and minivans.

Chrysler Group LLC has issued a recall for more than 248,000 vehicles due to an issue with the ignition system.

The recall affects certain 2010 Dodge Journey crossover wagons and Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans.

"Some vehicles may experience inadvertent ignition-key displacement from the run-to-accessory position while driving, causing the engine to shut off," the automaker reported on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website.

Chrysler dealers will replace the ignition-key modules free of charge, beginning in April. Affected vehicle owners may contact Chrysler at 800-853-1403.
