Industry is targeting smaller companies

Up from $423 million last year, Philippine software exports are expected to hit nearly one billion dollars by 2010.

Philippine Software Industry Association president Cristina Coronel said this was based on the 30% annual increase in revenues the industry has been enjoying in recent years. She said that the Philippine software industry was targeting U.S. firms only now beginning to outsource software development to foreign countries.

She also said they were looking at smaller companies seeking to move their programming, product development and research and development offshore.
