Indian Companies Looking To Turkey As Manufacturing Hub

At a conference last week in Chennia, India representative of the Turkish Prime Minister's office said that Indian companies that want to capture the European market should use Turkey as an alternative hub of manufacturing, as reported on At the conference, which was organized by the Indian Industry, Chaudhry said that since Turkey was part of the Customs Union with the EU and has trade agreements with 14 other countries it was an ideal location.

The article pointed out that Foreign Direct Investment increased to $20 billion in 2006, from $2 billion in 2003.

Additionally Turkey is planning to build an IT city.

Currently automotive companies use Turkey as an export base.
