Italy's Industrial Output Beats Estimates

Output in transport, IT and electronics sectors rose 4.8% in the month, while pharmaceuticals rose 3.5%.

Italy's industrial output rose 1.1% in November, beating estimates after falling in the two previous months, the official Istat data agency said on Jan. 12.

December's figure marked a 4.1% increase on a year-by-year basis.

Analysts polled by Dow Jones Newswires had expected an increase of 0.4% compared to the previous month, and a rise of 3.4% overall compared to the same period in 2009.

Output in October had dropped slightly by 0.1% following a sharp fall of 2.1% in September.
