Semiconductor and flat panel processing equipment account for increase

Unchanged from the initial estimate, Japan's industrial output grew 1.6% in October from September, the government reported Dec. 13.

Year-on-year, output was up 7.4%, the trade and industry ministry said.

The upturn was attributed to increased output of general machinery -- namely semiconductor and flat panel processing equipment -- as well as passenger cars and other electronic parts and devices.
