British manufacturing output dropped 0.4% in October from the previous month, official data showed on Dec. 6. It was the first decline since April and the biggest fall since October 2005.
On a 12-month basis manufacturing output, which accounts for 14.6% of overall economic activity, climbed 2.5% in October, the Office for National Statistics said. This was the biggest climb since June 2004.
Industrial production, which includes manufacturing output as well as mining, quarrying and utilities, dropped 0.8% in October from September, while increasing 0.6% on a 12-month basis.
