Senior Execs Less Optimistic About U.S. Economy

Dec. 6, 2006
They lower companies' revenue targets.

For the third consecutive quarter, senior executives of U.S.-based multinationals are less optimistic about the American economy and that's leading them to lower their companies' revenue growth projections for the next 12 months, says PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), an advisory services company.

Only 55% of the executives PwC during the third quarter of this year were optimistic about the U.S. economy's path during the next year, down from 59% in the second quarter and 67% in the first quarter. What's more, 11% were openly pessimistic, more than double the 5% from the second quarter.

The executives are lowering their companies' revenue growth expectations to an average of 7.5% during the next year; last quarter they projected 8.9% growth over the next 12 months.
