Computer manufacturer to complete compliance ahead of July deadline

Dell recently announced a commitment to beat EPA deadlines and to offer product configurations that exceed the Energy Star 4.0 product requirements within its commercial desktops, notebooks and workstations product lines. Dell will offer configurations of its Precision workstations that meet the EPA requirements. In addition, the recently announced Latitude D830, D630 and D531 notebook systems are also available with a broad selection of configurations that are also compliant.

Dell Precision, Latitude, and OptiPlex systems feature factory-configured Dell Energy Smart power settings designed to offer customers maximum power savings. Energy Smart configurations on OptiPlex desktops have been available since September 2006 and when combined with an Energy Star compliant configuration, a system can exceed EPA energy requirements.

The OptiPlex Energy Smart 745 and 740 feature 80 percent efficient power supplies that enable more efficient energy consumption management. Configured with flat panel monitors, these systems can help customers save up to 77 percent in power consumption compared to previous generation systems when combined with Energy Smart power settings.

In April, the company introduced an updated Dell PowerEdge Energy Smart 2970 server which delivers up to 25 percent greater performance per watt while reducing power consumption by up to 21 percent.

Dell offers online calculators and planners at www.dell.com/energy to estimate and manage power needs and assess potential impact to their power bills and carbon footprint.
