The initial plan for comprehensive tax reform released by Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI) on Feb. 26 put specific proposals on the table and elicited a predictable flurry of reactions. While the plan would simplify the tax code and reduce tax rates, it would also eliminate a host of popular tax breaks and loopholes. As these initial responses to the plan illustrate, the was little agreement on anything about the plan other than Camp probably deserved credit for offering a fix for one of the country's most pressing and politically least rewarding problems.
