Manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment have a new tool in helping them comply with EU and China RoHS regulations via data collection. The GoodBye Chain Group's (GCG) Material Declaration Wizard Software Tool MDW/1752 contains XML import and export functionality for all six classes of IPC 1752 reporting.
Companies that have BoM-related ppm data can produce an IPC 1752 report for their customers or website. Additionally companies that purchase ppm data from third parties can import that data directly into MDW/1752.
The new software "allows large companies to implement RoHS data collection and management solutions right away as an interim solution until their ERP or PLM systems are fully 1752 XML-functional," says Jim Dills, GCG managing director.
Component and subassembly manufacturers are using MDW to aggregate substance and material data, while large contract manufacturers are using MDW to roll up parts information from suppliers and to report that information to their most EU customers. Still other companies are using MDW as a 'front-end' for existing PLM and ERP systems.
