Brazil's Embraer, US Leaser Seal Order for 50 Aircraft

SAO PAULO—Brazil's top plane maker Embraer (IW 1000/702) has signed a deal finalizing an order from U.S. leasing company International Lease Finance Corp. for 50 E-Jets E2 aircraft valued at $2.85 billion.

The contract for 25 E190-E2 jets and 25 E195-E2 aircraft that can carry up to 144 passengers comes with an option for 50 other planes.

The deal was first announced as a letter of intent during the Paris Air Show in June.

International Lease Finance Corp., based in Los Angeles, is a global leader in the leasing and remarketing of jet aircraft to commercial airlines.

The first delivery of an E-Jets E2 aircraft—the E190-E2—is planned for the first half of 2018, Embraer said.

Embraer said it has delivered more than 950 E-Jets so far.

Currently, 65 customers from 45 countries have Embraer E-Jets in their fleets.

Embraer, the world's third-largest commercial aircraft manufacturer behind U.S. Boeing and Europe's Airbus, is based in Sao Jose dos Campos, 50 miles from Sao Paulo.
