What is slowing US manufacturing growth? A prominent business economist discusses new survey data.

Optimism among U.S. manufacturers skidded in the most recent quarterly survey by NAM. Despite projected growth in the sector, both global and domestic forces are working to slow manufacturing performance and lower the outlook, says NAM Chief Economist Chad Moutray, the principal author of NAM's Manufacturers' Outlook Survey. He discusses the survey's findings on sales, exports, employment, regulation and energy.
