South Korea Hits $41.7 Billion Trade Surplus in 2010

Exports rose to $467.5 billion

South Korea's 2010 trade surplus reached an all-time record $41.7 billion thanks to strong exports, a government report showed Jan. 1.

Exports rose 28.6% on-year to $467.4 billion, with imports moving up 31.8% to $425.7 billion, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy said.

The previous South Korea's trade surplus record was $41 billion set in 2009.

For December, exports jumped 23.1% on-year to $44.3 billion, with imports gaining 23.3% to $40.6 billion for a $3.7 billion surplus.
