Survey finds well-rounded execs have longevity.

What's the average shelf life for a rookie chief procurement officer? According to CAPS Research, it definitely helps to have some supply experience -- but not just supply experience.

First-time CPOs with no previous supply experience typically last only 3.3 years in the job. However, that's slightly better than those with only supply experience, who tend to wear out their welcomes (or move on to something else) after just 3.2 years. Those well-rounded individuals who have a combination of supply and non-supply experience last 5.5 years in their first tour of duty as a CPO.
