ByJohn S. McClenahen As it had for the five preceding months, the leading index of economic indicators increased in March, rising 0.3%, the Conference Board reported on May 17. "The leading index has increased at about a 4% annual rate over this [six-month] period and the strength has continued to be widespread," the New York-based business research group said. The leading index for Mexico now stands at 108.1 (1990=100). "The continued strength in the leading index suggests some further improvement in the rate of economic growth in the near term," said the Conference Board.
