Compiled ByDeborah Austin Descartes Systems Group Inc. -- provider of global Internet logistics solutions -- and business-to-business e-commerce infrastructure provider BCE Emergis have announced a strategic alliance to offer high-performance Internet logistics solutions. The agreement includes a joint sales and marketing alliance, with BCE integrating Descartes' logistics solution to its e-commerce services offering; Descartes will include BCE's electronic invoice presentment and payment (EIPP) solution in its DeliveryNet solution offering. Also, Descartes will acquire BCE's transportation logistics messaging services, adding to Descartes' Global Logistics Network more than 30 air carriers, 200 land carriers, 20 ocean carriers, 50 shippers/distributors, 200 freight forwarders, and 2,000 customs brokerage offices. BCE receives $25 million and 1.388 million Descartes common shares in the agreement. BCE Emergis is headquartered in Montreal; Descartes, in Waterloo, Ont.
