Compiled ByTraci Purdum A new online resource from Johnson Controls Inc. enables users in the life-sciences industry to benchmark plant spending with facilities managed by the Milwaukee-based company. The Johnson Controls Facility Insite Tool (located under the Controls and Facility Management tab at the company's Web site) prompts users to answer an online questionnaire. Once the questionnaire is answered, users will receive a customized analysis of their company's spending in nine categories: facility administration, custodial services, maintenance, security, utility and energy services, electricity, heat, water and food service. "Through our facility management consulting with pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, we've learned that very few companies have a clear picture of how their facility costs compare to other world-class facilities," says Kai-Chuk Tse, marketing manager, life science for Johnson Controls. "Increasing facility performance and reducing the associated costs creates a real competitive advantage that assist these companies in meeting and exceeding their overall business objectives." The benchmark analysis is free. A hard copy of the analysis can be expected within one week of completing the questionnaire.
