When it's show time at National Manufacturing Week in September 2007, the Washington, D.C.-based National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) will not be the lead sponsor of the trade show.

The show has been sponsored by the NAM, which bills itself as the largest industrial trade organization in the U.S., for the past 15 years.

Owned by Reed Exhibitions, the show was sold last month to Los Angeles-based Canon Communications. "The NAM contract with Reed Exhibitions, which allowed NAM members to enjoy discounted rates for exhibition space, was not part of the purchase agreement," the manufacturing business group explained in a statement on July 31.

"The NAM will continue, on behalf of our membership, to support and strengthen manufacturing innovation and competitiveness through other initiatives and activities."
