Patent office issues certification.

Made in USA Certified Inc. announced on Aug. 29 that it is the only certification company to receive a registered word mark from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the purpose of helping consumers identify products that qualify for making the "Made in USA" claim on their product packaging.

In an effort to clarify, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued guidelines on the use of "Made in USA." Complying with the FTC Made in USA standard can be found here: Bureau of Consumer Protection.

"There is a resurgence in all things 'Made in USA' and 'Made in America,'" said Julie Reiser, president and co-founder of Made in USA Certified Inc.

"Consumers want local, regional and authentic American items that bring them back to a simpler time in America. A time where Americans took pride in the things that they made, things we made with our hands. People are moving from a place of extreme excess to a place of sustenance and connection,"

Any company qualifying for the "Made in USA" claim can apply for certification and receive license to use this registered trademark.
