The broader consumer staples sector, which includes food and beverage, remained largely unchanged from last year’s list when compared to other categories in the 2025 IndustryWeek U.S. 500.
Here are some key highlights from the food and beverage sector:
- This category’s top performer, PepsiCo Inc., saw a 0.4% revenue increase to $91.854 billion and a 5.6% net income increase to $9.578 billion.
- Tyson Foods Inc., which came in second place for this category, saw a 223.5% decline in 2024 net income to just $800 million, which could be attributed to recent market conditions for beef including higher costs and smaller herds.
- Several companies made it onto this year’s 500 list after not making the cut last year, including Celsius Holdings Inc. (No. 466) and National Beverage Corp (No. 486).
- 15 of the 40 companies recorded revenue decreases.
- 25 of the 40 companies recorded net income decreases.
