DOD Demands RFID Tags At Two Largest Distribution Depots

On Nov. 14, suppliers to the Susquehanna, Pa. and San Joaquin, Calif. defense distribution depots will need RFID tags. New contracts for operational rations, clothing, individual equipment, tools, personal demand items and weapon system repair parts will include mandatory RFID tags.

According to the Department of Defense, the use of RFID technology will improve the visibility of its assets, increase the accuracy of shipment and receipt data and permit more efficient movement of supplies within the supply chain.
