A Stitch In E-Time

May 11, 2007
Online database addresses the needs of the apparel industry.

If you are in the apparel industry and need help with global sourcing and inventory, eSourceApparel.com, developed by ESA Trade Group LLC, may be worth the mouse click.

According to the New York-based company, every facet of the apparel supply chain is connected via the platform's aggregated database, which currently includes more than 60,000 global sourcing and services contacts in 30 countries. Users are able to source products globally; list, buy or sell inventory online; and post or respond to business leads.

For example, if you want to secure preliminary services (sample rooms, pattern makers, marking and grading companies and cutting rooms) from France you simply click on the Preliminary Services tab, pick the country and voil -- four companies appear.

Need to find a textile supplier in Turkey? No problem, there are 169 to choose from. And there are 406 apparel factories in Sri Lanka, 751 freight forwarders in the United States, 21 agents in Canada and six wholesalers/designers in Malaysia.

The goal of eSourceApparel.com is to "make the apparel industry a more efficient global marketplace," says John Barsoli Sr., co-founder and managing partner of ESA Trade Group.
