Claims for U.S. unemployment benefits dived by 35,000 to 302,000 in the week to June 3, the Labor Department said June 8. The number of claims was far less than the 330,000 expected by Wall Street analysts.

The four-week moving average for initial claims in the June 3 week fell 5,750 to 327,750.
