Avery Dennison Printer Systems has brought a medium-duty RFID label printer with RFID Generation 2 capabilities to the RFID marketplace. The product, called the Avery Dennison AP 5.4 RFID printer, is compliant with RFID requirements in retail, packing, distribution and industrial markets.

The AP 5.4 RFID Printer has Ethernet, serial and parallel interfaces and can be controlled remote via a PC with an Ethernet connection. It can encode and verify RFID labels and will print both 1D and 2D bar codes on label surfaces. An additional capability is the means to detect improperly encoded RFID labels and identify them with a printed marker.
