Sitting at $1.95 billion in 2005 the global RFID market will reach $26.9 in 1015, according to a report by Research and Markets, a Dublin-based research firm. Growth will come from expanded RFID applications across a variety of uses. The report cites increased use in security and access control, toll collection, vehicle immobilization and control systems and maintenance/spares operations (particularly in the aerospace and vehicle manufacture sectors).
Reports of successful returns on investment in RFID projects and trials are a contributing factor in the projected growth of RFID market sales according to the report.
