By 2015, according to a report from Research and Markets, the RFID market will be valued at $26 billion. Considering that the 2005 market is at $1.95 billion, that's quite a growth spurt.
In the report titled, "RFID Industry: A Market Update" hardware components will account for future gains. The applications monitored by this report includes security and access control, automobile applications, toll collection, animal tracking and others. Consumer goods item-level tagging, already in place for large retailer, will represent a large growth area in the future as well.
