United Auto Workers regional director Wayne Blanchard condemned a proposed lockout of Collins Aerospace in a statement Sunday, February 20. According to the UAW, union-represented workers at the Ohio aerospace factory were told by management they would be locked out starting midnight Sunday after 230 of 267 voters rejected the company’s offer.
In his statement, Blanchard called the lockout “a slap in the face” to members of UAW Local 128, and called for management to allow workers to continue working while bargaining.
Collins Aerospace, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a subsidiary of Raytheon Technologies formed in 2018 from a merger between Rockwell Collins and UTC Aerospace Systems. It has 67,000 employees around the world and builds aviation and aerospace products for the commercial, business, and military sectors.
