How Many Times Does A Tesla Car Need to Catch Fire Before Federal Inquiry?

Nov. 8, 2013
Yesterday marked the third time in the past six weeks that the Tesla Model S caught fire.

The incident yesterday involved the car catching fire after hitting a piece of debris in the road. The second time, a drive lost control of the car and went through a wall into an embankment and then hit a tree. And the first fire occurred when a driver ran over a large metal object which punctured the armored plate that covers the battery pack underneath the vehicle

All of these fires, in such a short time period, is causing Damon Lavrinc of Wired to ask the question as to when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration should start an investigation.
