The headquarters for a joint venture between The Dow Chemical Co. and Kuwaits Petrochemical Industries will be located in southeast Michigan pending final incentive approvals, the companies said on July 16.
K-Dow Petrochemicals, formed by the two companies which hold an equal 50-50 stake in the new enterprise, selected Michigan because of the states access to international markets, presence of a talented and culturally diverse workforce, and attractive business environment," said Andrew N. Liveris, Dow chairman and CEO in a statement. About 800 employees are expected to work at the headquarters site over the next several years.
The companies also named James Fitterling CEO of K-Dow Petrochemicals. Fitterling is currently the business group president for Dow Basic Plastics and a member of the company's management committee and business operations committee.
K-Dow will produce polymers used in a variety of plastics products, including food packaging, milk jugs electrical applications and coatings.
