Apple, Precision Castparts Post Gains in Early Trading

Apple, Precision Castparts and NewMarket were among the companies in the 2010 IndustryWeek 50 Best Manufacturing Companies stock index posting the biggest gains in early trading today.

As of 9:45 a.m. EST, shares of Apple Inc. were up $2.62 to $346.06, amid buzz being created by anticipated new-product announcements at the company's annual conference for software developers.

Apple ranks No. 3 on the 2010 IW 50 Best Manufacturing Companies list, published annually in IndustryWeek.

Shares of NewMarket Corp., a Richmond, Va.-based chemical manufacturer (No. 20 on the IW 50 list), were up $2.58 to $165.25 in early trading.

Shares of Precision Castparts Corp., a Portland, Ore.-based manufacturer of metal components and products (No. 20 on the IW 50), were up $1.95 to $155.09.
