Steel Producers and Traders Considering CHQ Project in Mexico

March 4, 2014
A consortium of companies is studying a project to build a joint-venture steel processing operation in Mexico.

Under consideration is a CHQ (cold-heading quality) steel processing operation in Mexico.  Tokyo-based Kobe Steel Ltd. is part of the consortium, along with several other well-known steel producers and steel trading companies.  Mexico has nearly doubled its automotive manufacturing volume since 2009, and is expected to continue to grow.
