Siemens To Supply Wind Turbines To Scottish Power

Turbines will help create Europe's biggest wind farm.

Siemens Power Generation, a unit of Siemens, will provide wind turbines to the Whitelee Wind Farm which will be located south of Glasgow. It is said to become Europe's biggest wind farm.

The contract from Scottish Power is valued at $439 million. Siemens will supply 140 wind turbines by 2009.

When the Whitelee Wind Farm is completed it will have installed capacity of 322 megawatts, enough to meet the electric needs of 200,000 households according to a company statement.
