Unilever's Indian Division Shows 38.7% Rise in Q3 Net Profit

Consumer goods showed strong growth

Unilever's Indian arm, Hindustan Unilever (HUL), reported on Oct. 24 a 38.7% rise in net profit for the third quarter on strong sales and higher prices.

The firm showed a net profit of 5.66 billion rupees (US$113 million) for the three months to September from 4.08 billion rupees a year earlier . Revenues rose 18.4% to 41.11 billion rupees, driven by growth in soaps, detergent and personal care products, the company said.

"Consumer goods saw strong growth with a 17.5% growth in food businesses," Nitin Paranjpe, chief executive of HUL said.
