Realizing that companies now compete supply-chain-to-supply-chain rather than enterprise-to-enterprise, Dallas based i2 Technologies has released a product called i2 Supply Chain Visibility. This next-generation product monitors a variety of business processes across the supply chain and will alert the company if the supply chain is not on plan. It matches order, inventory and logistics against business processes.

"Companies have traditionally relied upon data warehouses to provide visibility. However, they have never been able to provide information to users in the context of a business process and the user's role in that business process," says Michael McGrath, CEO of i2 Technolgies.

A particularly interesting application of i2 Supply Chain Visibility is the ability to create a customer-specific event and deploy it within 90 days.
