As a leader of supply chain management solutions, Ryder has decided to catch the wave of RFID and open a test lab.

"We realize the potential impact RFID will have on supply chain management, and this lab provides the right environment to design, develop, test and implement customer solutions for the emerging RFID marketplace," said Tony Tegnelia, executive vice president of U.S. supply chain solutions for Ryder System Inc.

The lab, located in Dallas/Ft. Worth, will test both vendor hardware and software, tag placement configuration as well as package design. To provide supply chain efficiencies for customers, Ryder will test integration of RFID into both warehouse management and transportation management systems.
