The National Association of Manufacturers said on Sept. 14 it will partner with Forsyth Technical Community College in North Carolina to develop a skilled biotechnology and pharmaceutical production workforce.
NAM's workforce development arm the Manufacturing Institute and Forsyth's National Center for the Biotechnology Workforce in Winston-Salem, N.C., have committed to developing community college programs aligned to industry standards in biotechnology, pharmaceutical production and medical device manufacturing.
The National Center is part of a statewide workforce training and education resource in North Carolina called BioNetwork that develops curriculum and continuing-education courses for the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and life science industries.
North Carolina is the nation's third-largest biotechnology employer, according to NAM.
