Bridgestone Building New Manufacturing Facility in China

Production capacity at the Shenyang Plant is anticipated to be 5,000 tires per day.

Bridgestone Corp. (IW 1000/113) announced last week that its subsidiary in China, Bridgestone (Shenyang) Tire Co., Ltd., will build a new manufacturing facility as part of its relocation project.

The Shenyang Plant, currently located in Shenyang City in the Liaoning Province of China, manufactures truck and bus tires.

The total investment is $299.7 million and includes construction of the plant and production equipment.

Production capacity at the Shenyang Plant is anticipated to be 5,000 tires per day. The plant is scheduled to begin operating at its new site in 2014.

The company said that it is "developing systems to enhance its speed to market in order to quickly meet the product needs of its customers."
