Battle Motors Hits the Accelerator on Expansion

June 17, 2022
The EV truck manufacturer recently announced it was on track to almost double the size of its New Philadelphia, Ohio factory.

Amid strong demand for heavy-duty vehicles, Battle Motors recently announced it would dramatically expand its existing production facility. The manufacturer of electric refuse, recycling, delivery, and other service electric trucks announced June 17 it would almost double the size of its existing factory by the end of 2023.

According to a company statement, Battle Motors increased the size of its New Philadelphia, Ohio, factory from 150,000 square feet to 325,000 square feet last year and “nearly tripled” its workforce. Now, the company says it plans to expand it again to 625,000 square feet by the end of next year.

The expansion is currently in progress. When Battle Motors announced it would add four new senior executives in March 15 this year, it added that the factory was on its way to reaching 500,000 square feet.

The third plant expansion for the automaker has been in the works for some time. A 2021 profile of Battle Motors CTO Nick Sampson in IndustryWeek noted the company already had plans to triple the size of the factory Battle Motors acquired when it purchased Crane Carrier early last year.

“It’s one thing to make a pretty-looking prototype,” Sampson told IW at the time. “It’s another thing to be able to produce things in volume and build factories and facilities and all that it takes to be in volume production.”
