Steel Tonnage Increases 10% Globally in March

World Steel Association Predicts 3.15% Steel Demand Increase for 2014

Global raw steel production increased globally to 141.3 million metric tons in March, up 10.7% from the revised total for February, and 2.7% from March 2013.  Asia, up 15.9% in March, showed the highest gain, followed by the European Union (+10.9%) and then North America.

Total worldwide production for the first quarter of 2014 (405.7 million metric tons) rose just 2.5% from the January-March 2013 period.
