Compiled ByDeborah Austin Supply-chain solutions provider Tilion Inc., Maynard, Mass., has introduced a real-time service designed to catch shipping errors before they happen. Tilion's subscription-based Solutions for Logistics Execution Management service provides pre-shipment visibility into each of a supply chain's disparate players -- including buyers, suppliers, external providers and internal operations -- in a Web-based format. By comparing data at the supplier or third-party logistics provider with purchase orders from the buyer, the service can alert logistics professionals to discrepancies via e-mail, pager or fax. Problems such as delayed shipments and potential product shortages can be addressed before shipment. Other Tilion solutions address management of inventory, supply and demand, and electronic marketplaces -- and include a supply-chain scorecard to measure participants' performance.
