New Textile Plant to Open in Georgia

American Textile to begin pillow manufacturing at new site in early 2011.

American Textile Co. will open a 218,000-square-foot pillow manufacturing plant in Tifton, Ga., by the end of first-quarter 2011, the company said Dec. 3.

The plant will initially employ 50 people and service customers in the Southeast. The company expects to employ 120 people by 2016.

The company said it selected the Tifton location because of its strategic location near customers with, a skilled textile workforce, a favorable business climate and incentives provided by the state of Georgia.

Customers with distribution points in the Southeast will receive a significant reduction in their freight costs, the company said.
