Bolivia's President Evo Morales said on May 1 that the government was taking control of three foreign energy companies, in an announcement coinciding with the May Day workers' holiday.
The companies were Chaco (British Petroleum), Transredes (Ashmore Energy) and the CLHB company.
The move came on the same day that the socialist president nationalized the national telephone company run by multinational Euro Telecom International.
