"Steady" may best describe 2024 revenue for the Top 10 chemicals manufacturers in the latest IndustryWeek U.S. 500, an annual listing of the top publicly traded U.S. manufacturing companies based on annual revenue. The 2025 IW U.S. 500 reflects 2024 revenue.
Among the Top 10 players in chemicals, revenue grew or declined in a narrow range, from a 2.7% increase (Ecolab Inc.) to a 4% decline (Air Products and Chemicals Inc.). Across the 41 chemicals companies on the 2025 IW U.S. 500, Kronos Worldwide Inc. reported the highest revenue growth, at 13.2%. In fact, it is the only chemicals manufacturer on the listing to report double-digit 2024 revenue growth. At the other extreme, Albemarle Corp. saw revenue decline by 44% on sharply lower lithium prices.
Other data of note:
- The largest chemicals manufacturer on the list, Dow Inc., reported revenue of nearly $43 billion. The smallest chemicals producer on the list, Westlake Chemicals Partners LP, reported $1.1 billion in revenue.
- While Dow ranked No. 1 among chemicals manufacturers, it ranked No. 32 on the overall list of the 2025 IW U.S. 500.
- Twenty-five of the 41 chemicals manufacturers on the IW U.S. 500 saw 2024 revenue decline.
- Twelve of the 41 chemicals manufacturers achieved 2024 revenue of greater than $10 billion.
